About
Katie Houghton-Ward
Katie Houghton-Ward has been working in the comic book industry, both in Australia and internationally, for more than twenty years.
Her creator-owned fantasy series KHULAN was serialised in internationally renowned HEAVY METAL magazine before being collected in a remastered edition by Gestalt. Feeling right at home amongst swords and sorcery, Katie illustrated a story for the TALGARD series before bringing her artistry to the INDIGIVERSE, an Aboriginal superhero universe.
Having completed the first two issues of DARK HEART, the flagship title in the INDIGIVERSE, Katie is currently hard at work on the third issue while overseeing the final production on her new KHULAN graphic novel, featuring cover art by fan-favourite Simon Bisley.
THE INDIGIVERSE: THE OLDEST LIVING CULTURES INSPIRING THE NEWEST LIVING SUPERHEROES
The INDIGIVERSE is Gooniyandi-Miriuwung Gajerrong man Scott Wilson’s vision for an Aboriginal superhero comics universe, inspired by First Nations culture and stories.
The flagship title, DARK HEART, and future INDIGIVERSE comics are aimed at helping to protect, preserve, share and celebrate the rich nature of First Nations culture in Australia, and to share it with the world.
